Your body is the only one you get. Treat it well now, or pay the price later—because when "later" comes, some damage can't be undone.
I spent decades inactive, eating junk food like it was nothing. Starbucks, Jamba Juice, fast food, restaurants—my diet was a constant stream of sugar, seed oils, and processed garbage. I’d occasionally hit the gym when my weight got out of control, but I always fell back into old habits. Eventually, I stopped trying altogether and became extremely obese.
What most people don’t realize is how much sugar and inflammatory seed oils are hidden in nearly everything—fruit juices, bread, crackers, snacks, even so-called "healthy" meals. The modern American diet should be called the inflammatory American diet because that’s exactly what it does—wreaks havoc on your body over time.
Now, I’m in the best shape of my life. I eat clean, train hard, and take care of my body better than ever. But every morning, I wake up feeling like I’ve been run over by a truck—aches, pains, stiffness. It’s not from my current lifestyle; it’s the price I’m paying for years of neglect. Some things can be fixed, but not all.
The lesson? You will pay for your choices—either now, by putting in the effort to eat right and stay active, or later, when your body starts breaking down. And "later" is a much harder bill to settle.
Don’t just go through the motions. Walking to the mailbox isn’t enough. Challenge yourself—lift weights, hike with a weighted vest, hit 10,000+ steps a day. Eat real food, not processed junk. Your future self will thank you.
Neglect catches up with everyone. The only question is whether you’ll do something about it before it’s too late.
